Technics SL-1500C Record Player has the best quality at low cost. This product is one of the cheapest turntables from Technics, but it has some of the premiums features like a built-in phono amp and a direct-drive motor. Most of the Technics products produced after the return of Panasonic to the market in 2016 were expensive and did not deliver as expected, but the latest product like the Technics SL-1500c have made the products affordable. So, is this the real Technics revival or just another misguided production?
The Design
When you mention the word technics, the products that come to most people’s mind is the SL-1210, and they have tried to keep the formula in this new product. Technics SL-1500c is quite similar to SL-q200, but it is also has a lot of features that differ from the world’s most iconic turntable. Technics SL-1500C Record Player is not designed as a DJ deck but as a record player. So, the product lacks features such as pitch control, stroboscope, target light and other stuff that made Playing the SL-1210 a unique experience. Technics SL-1500C turntable only allows you to put the record on and leave it alone until it is finished.
When it comes to its similarities with the SL 1210, the SL-1500 has the same on/off switch, Start/stop control and speed selection buttons. The exterior is made of aluminium, glass fibre and acryinitrile-butadiene-styrene as it is in all the classic Technics decks. The SL 1500 also has an additional rubber material to improve its efficiency. This plinth design is excellent for vibration control and rigidity. Users have to choose between silver and black finish.
Just like most of their products, Technics SL-1500c Vinyl Record Player is a direct-drive design. The motor in this turntable design is designed to avoid cogging that is common in lesser direct-drive decks. The techniques used in speed control are also unmatched as they were first made for Panasonic’s Blu-ray players to promote accuracy and stability.
Features
The SL-1500 is convenient and straightforward to use, thanks to features such as the Orton 2M Red Cartridge attached to the record player’s detachable headshell. This feature makes it easy to put it on and take it off. It is also easy to experiment with different cartridges as you can easily adjust the arm height.
The platter has an aluminium design and is made more stable through an additional of rubber damping on the underside. Having a switchable phono stage also makes the machine compatible with any amplifier type in the market, and the big 33.3 and 45 rpm speed-select buttons makes it an ideal selection for any true vinyl archivist. The switchable auto-stop feature means you can return the needle to its resting ‘off’ position whenever it gets to its run-out groove.
Sound
First, the built-in phone means that you don’t have to purchase a dedicated outboard unit for the best sound. The Technics SL-1500c Vinyl Turntable is one of the best sounding machines at its price range. This record player has a clean and price presentation, which defines all the edges of notes in music. The organised presentation also makes it easier to identify the magnitude of the instruments in the music.
The tonal balance in this turntable is also impressive for its price tag. The cartridge is the part behind the perfect tonal balance, and the Ortofon helps in keeping things as even and convincing as possible. You should not doubt the use of the 2M Red in the player since different decks have tested it over the years. The SL-1500c can integrate the whole frequency range with ease to provide the real sound of all types of instruments in the music.
