Audio Technica AT-LP5x Vinyl Turntable Product Description

Audio Technica AT-LP5 Turntable was already a bliss. But as if that wasn’t enough, Audio Technica is at it again with Audio Technica AT-LP5x Record Player. Besides Audio Technica AT LP5x being an impressive turntable and rich in features, it is affordable despite having significant improvement from its previous version – AT-LP5. Keep reading and find out the finessing you get if you decide to invest in this gem.

Design

Audio Technica AT-LP5x Turntable feels thoroughly engineered, but that expected given that the designer doesn’t disappoint. There is no much difference from the previous version, but this new model has an addition of 78rpm speed alongside the previous speeds 33.3 and 45rpm.

Another improvement is the existence of AT-VM95E cartridge contrary to the previous- AT-VM95- that is attached to the removable headshell. This new cartridge is more rigid and comes with improved mechanicals that results in higher output and better handling of the high-frequency response. You, however, have to change the stylus if you want to use the 78s.

Audio Technica AT LP5x Vinyl Record Player also features another improvement- the power supply is removed from the chassis to the mains plug. As a result, mechanical and electrical noise is eliminated from the subtle deck structure giving you an incredible sonic advantage.

Features

Audio Technica AT-LP5x Turntable is easy to setup. It about five minutes; you’ll have removed the deck from its packaging, set it on a platter, and attached the headshell as you don’t have to fix the cartridge considering its already fixed. Remember to set the tracking weight as recommended.

Besides the above changes, the Audio Technica AT-LP5x Record Player retains every other feature of the outgoing AT-LP5. The look and feel are worth the price, but you’ll notice the plastic plinth sounds hollow when you knock on it. DC servo drive motor is interestingly quiet, yet it spins the aluminium platter as soon as you get it started.

Looking at Audio Technica AT-LP5x Vinyl Turntable, you’ll immediately recognise it’s a record player. First is the j-shaped tonearm with a smooth touch that also features tracking precision. Second is the crisp feel of the speed selector with precise markings of rpm, which include 33, 45, and 78prm and end. The headshell is detachable, making it easy for you to swap cartridges if you need to upgrade if you want to use 78rpm. You have six options of the stylus that fit in the cartridge.

Sound

Audio Technica is known for organized and controlled sounds. It is thus hard to note the difference between the sound of LP5X and its previous predecessor. But, if you’re attentive, you’ll realize the sound is cleaner and more evident, making it worth your consideration. Despite which song you play, Audio Technica AT-LP5x Record Player ensures the cohesiveness of the performance. It doesn’t matter how complex your song gets- you’ll never realise the recorder struggling to balance.

Take, for example, track record merry Christmas Mr Lawrence by Ryuchi Sakamoto. LP5x can wrap itself around the gleaming piano lines and outputs the notes wonderfully. Another song you’d thing this record player would struggle with is the Fifth Symphony by Beethoven. On the contrary, the recorder delivers blissful. If we were to rate a record player based on its sound output, this product has nothing to fear from its competitor.

Verdict

Several things make Audio Technica AT-LP5x Turntableworth a spot on your wishlistFirst is the winning design that audio Technica has made sure to retain. Second is the easy setup, colour, and features. Comparing the quality of this product to its price, it’s something you can’t resist. AT-LP5x is an excellent combination of convenience, performance and features. With an extensive list of useful specifications, the record player can virtually play any vinyl record, join any system and make digital copies.
